Owner's Representative
Are you concerned your construction project will take over your life and never get done within your budget and quality expectations? For Owners, MFC provides highly experienced construction advice, communicated effectively with each building professional involved, to facilitate and be sure all phases of construction happen correctly.
Design, Quality Assurance, and Document Review for Builders
Are you tired of managing thousands of details that change at every turn and working with Owners' expectations that are also constantly evolving? For Builders, we will get your projects to meet the higher performance standards expected by today's buyers and users in the most cost effective way possible.
Waterproofing Design
No one wants a leaky building. Often there is a gap between the design phase and the building phase where key weatherization information is left out. We step in where your design team left off by providing step-by-step instructions to bring proper weatherization details to your building project.
Dispute Prevention/Avoidance
The change order needed didn't get approved. The change in plans never got to the cabinet maker. Everyone assumed the subcontractor was told about the 10-day schedule change. Prevent these scenarios: write MFC's Neutral Expert services into your contract. We'll review plans and do scheduled on site visits, as well as be identified as the party to hear disputes, eliminating or quickly resolving all of the above scenarios.
Construction Estimates
You've called five contractors and wound up with only one estimate. You are not sure that the estimate includes all that is needed. Since you only have one response to your request for estimates, how can you know if the one bid is fair? When you are uncertain about a proposal you have received or a project you want to start, MFC can give you a professional second opinion that will help you move forward with confidence.
Construction Advice/Inspections
When the Owner/Builder/Designer triangle is not working as it should, projects can run off course. MFC can get your project back on track. Your construction problem may not require the formal assistance of an expert witness nor the intervention of a dispute resolution specialist. We are available to provide advice from "soup to nuts" on your construction project. When you can't get the answers you need, contact MFC.
Dispute Resolution and Litigation Support Services
Dispute Review Board
If you want a successful project with as few disputes as possible, write a Dispute Review Board into your contract. According to the National Dispute Review Board Foundation, this resolves 96% of the disputes that arise. It is, bar none, the most cost effective and successful process available. Depending on project size and client preference, MFC provides one to three neutral experts to review plans and specifications and go on site to be familiar with the project. The cost is shared by both parties. If a dispute arises, a hearing is called where MFC acts as the neutral construction expert to objectively review the issues and recommend a course of action.
Mediation
You have a problem with your construction project. If you sue, you will lose control of the outcome. Lawsuits typically becomes expensive and very time consuming. MFC Mediators create a safe, structured, private environment that allows for real communication in even the most complex and contentious situations.
Arbitration
Are you worried about the cost of years of legal bills and time out of your life? Choose MFC Arbitration. A legally binding decision will be made by an MFC Arbitrator who is an objective construction expert. The session will be private and generally faster and less expensive than going to court.
Expert Witness
If you are fighting a lawsuit and need intelligent strength on your side, MFC can help. In fifteen years of business, we have provided the investigation and reporting that helped move 97% of our construction claim cases to a settlement agreement without the time and expense of going to trial.
Forensic Testing
Water is seeping in around a window. A closet smells musty. The 2-year old deck has dry rot. When something goes wrong with a building, we know the art of disassembling and testing existing structures while documenting our process in order to preserve a compelling record of the original conditions.
Construction Estimates
If you are going to settle your dispute, you need a realistic scope of repair with reasonable estimated costs attached to it. MFC is your source for detailed, easy to understand repair scopes.
